A look at prismatic lithium-ion batteries

There are two cell designs for prismatic lithium-ion batteries: wound and flat-plate. Wound cells in prismatic lithium-ion batteries are generally considered “pseudo-prismatic” designs, whereas flat-plate cells are considered “true prismatic” designs. Many larger batteries are made up of flat-plate cells, whereas smaller cells almost universally employ wound cells.
